NEWS REPORT: FG REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO PRIVATE SECTOR COLLABORATION FOR A GREENER NIGERIA
In a strong show of support for climate action and sustainable development, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, CON, has reaffirmed that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, remains open to collaboration with genuine private sector partners committed to building a cleaner, safer, and more prosperous Nigeria.
The SGF made this known while receiving an award of recognition from the African Business Ventures and Investment Group (ABVIG) for his outstanding role in promoting private sector partnerships in climate change initiatives and infrastructure development across Africa.
Represented by Okokon Okon Etoabasi, Deputy Director of Public Affairs and Bilateral Relations, Sen. Akume highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to create an enabling environment for sustainable investments through policies driven by the Ministry of Environment, the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC), and other relevant MDAs. He noted that these frameworks continue to enhance adaptation, mitigation, and green growth strategies nationwide.
He also commended ABVIG for its commitment to fostering dialogue and collaboration through the Africa Infrastructure and Climate Change Investment Summit (AICIS) 2025, which serves as a platform for mobilizing private sector innovation and financing toward sustainable development goals.
Earlier, Hon. Moses Owharo, Chairman and CEO of ABVIG, expressed gratitude to the SGF for his active role and technical support during the AICIS 2025 Summit in Abuja. He emphasized the importance of government participation in tackling climate challenges and called for stronger collaboration among the Federal Ministry of Environment, NCCC, and other stakeholders.
The event also featured special recognition for Engr. Nadungu Gagare, Permanent Secretary of the Political and Economic Affairs Office (PEAO), alongside other distinguished staff of the OSGF for their contributions to the success of the summit.
At KATALOG Promotions, we celebrate this positive synergy between government and the private sector, seeing it as a powerful step toward a sustainable and investment-friendly future for Nigeria and Africa at large.
